Discover more from The Any Distance Active Times
For as long as we have been building Any Distance, we have been hearing feedback that you would love to follow your friends' active lives.
It's exciting and humbling that we are actively building a brand and experience that you want more of.
So, what happens when we build a new type of social network for your active lives?
What happens when we continue to prioritize safety, inclusivity, privacy, and fun?
What happens when we keep our focus on participation, accountability, motivation, and celebration, not comparison and competition?
That's just what we are doing.
The development of the next chapter of Any Distance is in full swing. We are calling it Active Clubs, and we will be sharing more in the coming weeks.
Yet, as always; we need your help. Now is your chance to let us know what you would like from an Any Distance social experience. What do you want to see and what don't you want.
Leave a comment, Tweet at us, or simply reply to this email. We would love to hear from you.
Sand and Stone – sounds like a new craft beer!
Being in Boston on Marathon Monday is a something that anyone who has finished the 26.2 mile marathon distance has dreamed about, at least once! A surefire signal that the grandest Marathon of them all is around the corner is the annual unveiling of the celebration jacket. This year’s ‘Sand and Stone’ colorway is a departure from tradition, however we’re sure it won’t stop finishers from sporting it on the flight home (and the following 364 days).
The Champ is Here
Speaking of the Boston Marathon, who could forget the epic conditions in 2018, when friend of Any Distance, Des Linden took out the Women’s race in dramatic style? (Not this author).
I’m certain that her upcoming memoir, Choosing to Run, will include a detailed retelling of that fateful day, as well as more of her personal story and what motivates her to get up and run every day. I can’t wait to read it!
You can preorder a signed copy here.
**Fun fact - Des and her husband, Ryan are also the brains behind Linden x Two coffee. We launched a cute collaboration coffee with them last year. Learn more about it here.
As a thank you for being an Active Times subscriber you can get yourself 15% your next coffee order here.
The Other Portland
While most of the Any Distance team resides in Atlanta, Georgia, our marketing guy and wordsmith for this issue of the Active Times, Travis is sitting in the remote office in Portland, Maine. Recently, Travel & Leisure mentioned Portland as the best place to live on the East Coast. They’re actually correct 😎
Did you know that we have over 30 special city collectible medals within Any Distance, including both Portlands? Show your hometown pride, and let us know what city we should add next. Best suggestion will be added and we’ll let you know the winner in the next Active Times.

ICYMI: The Any Distance Apple Watch app is here, and it’s pretty rad. Our easy to use, free, privacy-focused activity tracking is now available right on your wrist. Now you can track 90+ activities on your Apple Watch. The usual suspects are there: walking, running and cycling. We also support cultural phenomenons and more inclusive activities. Like, Hot Girl Walk, Stroller Runs and Wheelchair activities.
I’m not inspired, you’re inspired 🥹
Atlanta’s world famous Publix Atlanta Marathon took place this weekend and our some of favorite moments left tears in our eyes and provided inspiration in spades.
98 year old Betty Lindberg completed the 5km event in an amazing time of 59 minutes and showed that age is no barrier to being avidly active! Thanks for showing us the way, Betty.
The incredible team from the Kyle Pease foundation continued to show that #PushingBeyondLimits is possible. They had 50 athletes compete across the weekend to prove that inclusion and access to movement should not be limited!
Comfort In(n)
Our latest collaboration floated into Any Distance last Friday. 3.3.23 for those playing along at home 😉 Atoms have created these revolutionary shoes that have been described as “The most thoughtfully designed sneakers ever.” The Model 001 has quickly become the go-to footwear for the Any Distance teams’ walk commutes and walking meetings (you can track these in AD too, btw)!
To unlock your own digital version of the Model 001, simply track a 20-minute walk, run or wheelchair activity to earn our digital collectible and receive $15 off a physical pair. Supplies are limited, so don’t delay!

A new social network for your active life?!
excited to see this come to life! i tinkered around with the social x fitness domain and mocked up a few ideas recently so personally very excited to see how this turns out.
I’d like to see interconnection opps….a chance for people to share their ideas, ideals, their ways of life with others
